It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Maiden Edition of Ibom Social Media Day and Awards 2024.
As we all know, Ibom Social Media Day and Awards 2024 is organized by Coalition of Online Publishers, Bloggers and Social Media Influencers, COPBSMI to commemorate World Social Media Day 2024 which is celebrated today globally.
As the name implies, Ibom Social Media Day and Awards is a day set aside by COPBSMI to celebrate the valuable and positive contributions by social media users and digital marketers who have made meaningful and tremendous contributions towards the growth and advancement of Akwa Ibom online community, thereby promoting the image of our state in good light.
The idea about World Social Media Day was to celebrate the positive contributions that social media platforms have added to our every day life. In Akwa Ibom State, Coalition of Online Publishers, Bloggers and Social Media Influencers, COPBSMI has seen the need to bring Akwa Ibom people together to celebrate the valid inputs that social media platforms have provided.
Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen, there is no specific theme for World Social Media Day, but in Akwa Ibom State, we have decided to organize the event on the Theme: Rebranding Akwa Ibom State in Contemporary Nigeria for Economic Growth and Sustainable Development, to share our thoughts on how we can use different social media platforms to promote our state in the right direction to attract investment and create job opportunities for our teeming youths.
Today’s event will feature paper presentations and panel discussions to address issues of cybercrimes, cyberstalking, brand identity, among others.
There will be paper presentations by our erudite scholars, recognition of social media influencer and online publishers, and some individuals and organizations that have distinguished themselves in their different field of endeavours.
So I want to welcome you all to the biggest event today, to join the global community in celebrating World Social Media Day through Ibom Social Media Day and Awards 2024.
